Founded in 1985, QUALCOMM, Inc. pioneered code division multiple access (CDMA), the foundation for third-generation (3G) communications devices, and continues to develop new voice, data, and wireless internet products and solutions. The company created QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT) in 1995 to provide manufacturers with hardware, software, tools and training, and technical support for CDMA wireless products.
Qualcomm improves customer facing documents, develops reports faster and reduces support costs with Oracle BI Publisher While implementing Oracle Applications E-Business Suite, Qualcomm also sought to reduce the total cost of reporting, improve the quality of customer facing documents from the ERP applications and reduce reporting development cycle time. These objectives also included ensuring there were no customizations or modifications to the standard Oracle content. The requirements included graphics and barcodes to fully support Qualcomm’s customer-facing documents. They had just begun looking at third party applications when Oracle’s BI Publisher application came to their attention. After reviewing the product’s capabilities, BI Publisher was selected and the third party application search was halted. During implementation, many of the product’s benefits were soon realized. Using one data source, which was a standard report from Oracle E-Business Suite, they were able to product 23 unique invoice layouts to support all business units. Other benefits realized include self service report generation capabilities for business users, accelerated development cycle, reduced QA time and reduction in maintenance time and cost.
