SAP Certifies, Supports Oracle9i Real Application Clusters

Record new RAC scalability/throughput benchmarks certified on HP servers
Furthering Oracle's strong industry momentum, SAP will adopt, distribute, and support Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters (Oracle9i RAC). Pilot projects have already started with mutually agreed customers and SAP solutions on Oracle9i RAC will be available for SAP customers on HP AlphaServer systems running Tru64 Unix and other popular operating systems.

SAP also certified a series of Oracle9i RAC-based SAP SD Parallel Standard Application benchmarks that set new scalability and throughput records on HP Alpha Servers. Near linear scalability was achieved using SAP R/3 4.6C and Oracle9i RAC running the Parallel Sales and Distribution workload on a four-node HP AlphaServer ES45 system using TruCluster Server software with four processors per node.

  • SAP fully supportsOracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters
  • Oracle9i sets new world record for SAP SD Parallel benchmark
  • Scalability increased linear by 1.8 from 1 through 2 to 4-node configurations
  • Oracle9i Database continues to set performance standards for SAP applications

Continuing a long tradition of setting the performance standard for SAP, Oracle has established a new world record for SAP's Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark. Oracle delivers excellent performance, scalability, and value on low-cost, standard Linux servers, with the unique high availability of Oracle Real Application Clusters.

"More than two-thirds of SAP's customers run their applications on Oracle," said Charles Rozwat, Oracle's executive vice president of Server Technologies. "Now with SAP's endorsement and certification of Oracle9i RAC, we are extending a successful reseller and support relationship for an additional three years that will help thousands of customers achieve lower costs, higher scalability, and improved reliability."
