Manitowoc Finds Value in Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy
Company gets access to major product releases
Manitowoc is a leading provider of lifting equipment for global construction, a leading producer of cold-focused equipment for the foodservice industry and a leading provider of shipbuilding and ship-repair services, with annual revenues approaching $2 billion and over 7,000 employees. A global user of PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM 8.3 since 2001, the company's strategy is to upgrade to PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM 8.9, and has returned to Oracle Support Services.
Oracle Lifetime Support Policy: The Path to Fusion
One of the main drivers of the decision to return to Oracle Support Services was Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy, which will let the company take advantage of exclusive product enhancements only available to Oracle Support Customers and provide them with access to major product releases with the latest technologies—including next-generation Oracle Fusion applications.
"One of our main reasons for upgrading to Enterprise HCM 8.9 was for enhanced functionality in security, ePerformance, and absence management, and for a direct migration path to Oracle Fusion," said Steve Servais, director of Manitowoc's Human Resource Information Systems. "We continued our strategic planning internally and we realized that we wanted to grow the HRMS platform beyond PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM 8.3 for additional functionality and also to position ourselves for Oracle Fusion and what that's going to bring our company."
