Please note that this appliance is for testing purposes only, as such it is unsupported and should not to be used in a production environment.
All you need is to install Oracle VirtualBox on your desktop/laptop and import the Oracle Solaris 11 Express Developer appliance - no further installation or configuration is required!
The following software is installed on this VirtualBox image:
Step 1. Download and install Oracle VM VirtualBox on your host system.
Step 2. The appliance file is ~3GB large so we provide 2 alternatives for your download.
1. Download these 4 files and combine them to the VM appliance file
Concatenate the files you just downloaded.
2. Download the 3GB Solaris_11_Express_Developer_VM.ova file
MD5 checksums for the downloaded files and for Solaris_11_Express_Developer_VM.ova file
Step 3. Import your VM: File > Import Appliance to launch Appliance Import Wizard. Click Choose... to browse to the Solaris_11_Express_Developer_VM.ova file that you create. Then click Next > to begin importing the virtual machine. Adjust the RAM to be no more then half of your the physical RAM on your host.
Step 4. Start your VM: Once the import has completed, start the VM. You will be automatically logged in as user oracle. You will be greeted with a welcome page covering other details of the VM.
Default user is oracle with password oracle
Once you are finished working in the VM you can shut it down via System > Shut Down; this will shutdown the VM.
