Oracle ACE Spotlight Dan McGhan, Oracle ACEDanMcGhan

Dan McGhan is the Director of Oracle APEX Services at SkillBuilders. He suffers from Compulsive Programming Disorder (CPD) which is believed to be linked to his balding. Having started his development career in the land of MySQL and PHP, he was only too happy to have stumbled upon APEX. Since then, he’s dedicated his programming efforts to learning more about Oracle and web based technologies in general.

Dan is an Oracle Application Express Certified Expert, an Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate, as well as an Oracle ACE. In addition to his "day job", he is one of the top contributors to the APEX forum, maintains his own Oracle and APEX blog at http://danielmcghan.us, and is a regular presenter at various events and user group meetings including Oracle Open World and ODTUG's Kscope and APEXposed. His most recent addiction is developing plug-ins for APEX.

When not programming, Dan may be found studying languages other than those used for development, notably Spanish. He recently put his Spanish skills to the test when he presented in Spanish during the inaugural APEX Tour in South America. He’s also been sited at various venues dancing Salsa with his wife, Sonia, and even enjoying an occasional cigar, a time when his wife prefers not to be around.

Oracle ACE Program News

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

In the US, we just celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. While the Thanksgiving tradition appears to be uniquely American, and now includes football games and Black Fridays, Thanksgiving is really an evolution of ancient European and Native American harvest festivals intended to give thanks for the bounty of the land and to prepare for the oncoming winter.

Since we are no longer an agrarian society, Thanksgiving today is less about celebrating the harvest and more about simply being grateful for the many bounties we have in our lives. Most important of these is the love and support of family and friends and community around us.

As the year draws to a close, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your continued dedication and support of the Oracle ACE program. The community we have built together is truly one of a kind and we are proud to work with each and every one of you.

From all of us at the Oracle ACE program office, we extend our best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy Holiday season.

- Vikki Lira & Lillian Buziak
