Roel Hartman has a lengthy history of working with various Oracle technologies and is a world-renowned expert in Oracle Application Express. In June 2009, Hartman was awarded the Oracle ACE award and in August 2010, based on his sharing of knowledge and continued contributions to the community, he was promoted to Oracle ACE Director.

Hartman contributes to the technology community in various ways. He presents at several international conferences including Oracle OpenWorld, DOAG, UKOUG, Collaborate, ODTUG’s Kscope, and is a frequent speaker at several Oracle User Groups events throughout Europe. He is a coauthor of two books, Expert Oracle Application Express and Oracle Application Express for Mobile Web Applications. He has an APEX-related blog, roelhartman.blogspot.com , and distributes APEXpress Weekly, an online newsletter containing recent news regarding Oracle Application Express. In addition to his technical contributions, Hartman gives back to the community through volunteerism. He was the APEX Content Lead for ODTUG’s Kscope 14 and Kscope 15 conferences, served on the ODTUG Board of Directors in 2016, and was re-elected to a two-year term starting January 2018.

Hartman lives in a small village close to Deventer, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, Hartman likes to run races solo or with his family. He completed three marathons in one year and has plans to complete two more, including the 2018 New York City Marathon.
