The Oracle Spatial platform serves geospatial content to map rendering applications such as Oracle MapViewer, but can also drive spatial analyses for purposes such as location based reporting, analytics, alerts, and notifications. We will demonstrate and describe a Spatial methodology to conduct location analyses in the context of State Government (Department of Transportation) ARRA project reporting. This session will focus on core features of the Oracle Spatial SQL API and is appropriate for a beginner/intermediate level audience.

Utilities need a standards-based approach to manage the exponential growth of information which includes geospatial, or location, content. This session presents how the common information model (CIM) has become an integral part of utility enterprise information management strategy and the implementation experience at two utilities. In addition, it discusses the benefits of spatial analysis and visualization in this context.

This case study presents use of the Oracle Spatial Network Data Model to meet Smart Grid network management requirements of Xcel Energy. This approach combines management and coordination of both communication and electrical networks and topologies. It will also illustrate the desired features of Device Data Management System (DDMS), which is responsible for the collection, storage and accessibility control of electrical device data provided by sensors and correlating the metrology data with electrical network.
Oracle Spatial Cartographic Database: Optimizing U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER Data for Mapping

Compressed operational schedules, coupled with high volume map production, require a system that is optimized at every point in the process. In the very early planning stages of 2010 Census map production, it was clear that the design and organization of the TIGER data could not adequately support the mapping system that would be required. This presentation describes the design and development of the enterprise-level Oracle Spatial Cartographic Database to meet map production needs.
Getting Started with JDeveloper and Oracle Spatial

The use of standard Oracle database components like Oracle Locator and Oracle Spatial continues to expand rapidly, and Oracle MapViewer is included in every Oracle Application Server/Fusion Middleware installation. With these technologies enabling next generation mapping and location analysis applications on Oracle, the Oracle JDeveloper team has created an easy-to-use ADF JAVA API visual component for mapping. This GeoMap component makes including maps in apps simple. This talk will include step-by-step instructions for creating your own map-enabled application using Oracle JDeveloper.
Spatial Interoperability – Expanding Geospatial Intelligence with Mainstream IT

Expanding the utilization of geospatial knowledge found in legacy GIS systems to mainstream business systems and non-expert users requires interoperable data sharing. Data must flow in both directions between the legacy systems and next generation applications based on mainstream database technologies from Oracle Spatial. This presentation addresses interoperability based upon a unique combination of data translation tools, detailed knowledge of both proprietary and open platforms and an understanding of the business process changes gained by interoperability.

The AngloGold Ashanti Streamline Enterprise system uses LuciadMap and Oracle Spatial 11g to provide easy, visual access to large amounts of complex data from its global gold mining operations. The spatial data infrastructure stores all imagery in Oracle Spatial 11g as GeoRaster data, with links to documents and survey products. LuciadMap is the web centric application for visualization of all data sets in one coherent situational picture. The presentation covers the special techniques that allow users worldwide to work off line or on low bandwidth without loss of performance.
Location Intelligence a Case Study on Fund Distribution for the Wine Sector from an Italian Regional Agricultural Agency

AGREA is an Italian regional government agency that controls the distribution of EU funds for the agricultural sector. They needed to integrate analysis of location with other data about wineries. iConsulting developed a GeoDataWarehouse that uses Oracle Spatial 11g Release 2, Oracle MapViewer 11g, and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 10.1.3. A live demonstration will show: building of a geographic hierarchy, full integration between OBIEE and MapViewer, custom Spatial queries from the dashboard; integration of external tiles (OpenStreetMap, Google Maps), geocoding of FOIs, and heatmaps/piecharts on the map.
AGREA now benefits from a single, efficient, integrated reporting/analysis platform, and improved decision processes.
Demonstration of Oracle Spatial-Based Asset Management and Decision Support System Software for Broadband Operators

A Java application using Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle Spatial, and Oracle MapViewer 11g, for CATV network data publishing, asset management, and analysis will be presented. IMMCO evolved its iBISS Net asset management and decision support application to a next-generation spatially-enabled application with Oracle Spatial. It uses Oracle Spatial for spatial analysis, proximity search, data management, and spatial web services. In addition to using WMS and WFS capabilities, it uses the database's XML and TO_GML functions to generate KML files for viewing in Google Earth. iBISS itself uses MapViewer for visualization and map interaction.
Combining Bentley Geospatial Products with Oracle Spatial to Manage 3D City Base Maps

Thanks to the last decade of technological progress, 3D GIS has become a reality in the geospatial world. Creating 3D City models and managing them with a geospatial database is now possible and provides new, exciting solutions for better management of infrastructure information. This presentation will address the integration of Bentley GIS products with Oracle Spatial 11g, including support for its 3D and GeoRaster data types. We will introduce how this allows management of 3D City base maps from creation and update to consumption.
