OLAP Newsletter Customer Feature

American Century Investments have implemented Oracle OLAP 10g to provide analysis of the Activity Based Management (ABM) data from their Peoplesoft EPM application for Business Analysts in the company. Previously using Cognos and Business Objects for creating business area specific cubes, and drilling and analytic insight to the data, Oracle OLAP and Discoverer for OLAP now provides the same functionality and excellent integration with the existing Oracle implementation.

Technical Solution:

Multiple cubes, with 7 measures and many calculated measures are implemented, with 5 dimensions each; there are multiple hierarchies and many levels within the hierarchies. Data is updated monthtly.

Pascal Eason, Programmer/Analyst states:

"Data and cubes are now centrally managed within I.T; there's a single source of the truth i.e. cube data, available to all analysts. Analysts see the same picture of profitability and costs across channels via these cubes, and this assists decision making.  Using Oracle OLAP has been cost effective to our company; we wanted cube slice and dice capability and can have this via OLAP cubes, as a small add on cost to our existing Database license."
