OCEv4.1.1 for Oracle RAC 11g R2 (11.2.0.2.0)

Component: RAC Functional Test (RFT) Kit

Platform: Linux x64

OCE Support ID:

Issue Date:

28-Jan-2011

IMPORTANT: This is an OCE COMPONENT Checklist, and represents the tests/test-results specific to that component. It does NOT represent the full OCE requirement for any certification type.

To complete an OCE Certification, all relevant OCE components must be executed, and their corresponding checklists completed.

Refer to the OCE Release Notes (available online @ http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/oce) for full details on all OCE components.

BEFORE TESTING COMMENCES…

OCR/Vote storage requirements for RAC Functional Tests (LRGs)

Please ensure that the requirements documented herein are thoroughly understood prior to the commencement of any testing. Failure to adhere to this recommendation will almost certainly result in a failure to satisify the minimum testing requirements, which in turn will cause lengthy delays.

There are two valid, relevant options available when choosing the storage location for the OCR and Vote disk during Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 installation. These options are:

·        ASM

·        CFS

Both options must be tested as part of a certification. However, not all of the options are compatible with all tests; and the overhead involved in full testing of each option would be unmanageable. As a result, the following changes have been made to the requirements:

Beginning with this release (v4), the storage option to be chosen for OCR/Vote will be defined for each LRG suite; if executing standalone tests, the storage option defined for the suite to which a given test belongs will apply. For example, if executing lrg9k1a, the storage option to be employed must correspond to that defined for rdbms_rac_suite4

Software requirements

OCE Functional Test kits require software to be installed in addition to the Oracle and OCE software. These software requirements are documented in the OCE Installation & User’s Guide, and additionally, in the OCE Release Notes for Linux.

ORACLE_HOME requirements

OCE Functional Test kits require the ORACLE_HOME path to obey certain guidelines. As always, the OCE Installation & User’s Guide and OCE Release Notes should be thoroughly reviewed to ensure that all requirements are met prior to testing. For example:

·        OCE Functional Test kits are case-sensitive to the ORACLE_HOME path, which cannot include any upper-case characters

·        OCE Functional Test kits typically set very large testing environments; therefore, it is recommended that the ORACLE_HOME path be kept as short as reasonably possible. For example, /u01/db

# Runs

New to OCEv4, a “#Runs” column has been added to the LRG tables; please record the number of re-runs required to achieve the reported result. For example, in most cases, this value should be 0 (indicating no re-runs were required). In the event that a test produces an unexpected result, this value should be >=1 (indicating that the test was re-run at least once, in accordance with OCE guidelines on test troubleshooting – refer to the OCE Installation & User’s Guide for further information). Please ensure that the number of re-runs required is accurately reflected; failure to do so may result in the rejection of the checklist

Please ensure that the following tables are completed in full. Any test-specific observations may be recorded in the “Additional Comments” field. Overall observations relating to RAC LRG testing may be recorded in the “Additional Comments” table (2.10).

Additional Comments – RFT Testing

Insert additional comments here

UPON COMPLETION OF RAC FUNCTIONAL TESTING…

Vendor emails completed “RFT Component Checklist” to OCE Support

Upon completion of all testing, if there are no open issues please email completed checklist to certsup_ww@oracle.com

Important:

The checklist must be completed in full.

All incomplete submissions will be returned to sender.

All checklists must include valid support information (e.g. OCE Support ID, etc)

OCE Support reviews, approves “RFT Component” completion

The Oracle Certification Environment Group reviews the component checklist submitted by vendors upon completion of testing. This DOES NOT complete certification activities; in order to complete an OCE Certification, ALL OCE Components relevant to that certification category must be completed and approved by OCE Support.

UPON COMPLETION OF ALL OCE COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATION…

When all OCE Components have been completed and approved, the set of component checklists (already complete) should be submitted to OCE Support, along with a fully completed OCE Certification Approval Request. The OCE Certification Approval Request template is available online @ http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/oce, along with all OCE Component Checklists.

All communication with the Oracle Certification Environment team is via email to certsup_ww@oracle.com
