tell me more icon Authentication Method

The File System repository, used in this example for simplicity, does not require an authentication method. You can leave the default option, Identity Propagation selected. This option provides the application user name to the repository as the identity of the repository user, without providing a password. In this example, since we have not entered a password, the user does not need to log into the repository at runtime.

The External Application method can be used when the current user identity should not be propagated directly to the repository. You can use an external application by selecting an external application ID from the External Application dropdown list. Alternatively, you can create a new external application by clicking and launching the Register External Application wizard. Configuring a new external application requires the following parameters:

  1. In the Login URL field, enter the URL of the external application, for example, http://myexternalapp.mycompany.com:8888/mycontent/ws.
  2. Enter the user name and password required to authenticate the application.
  3. On Step 5, optionally enter shared credentials that can be used at design time and runtime.
  4. On Step 6, enter public credentials that can be used at design time and runtime.
