OTN Developer Days Oracle ADF And Fusion Middleware Development Lab Pre-RequisitesThis document provides details of the pre-requisites required to successfully complete the OTN Developer Days Oracle ADF and Fusion Middleware Development Lab that accompanies the Event.
Oracle Database Express Edition (Oracle Database XE) is an entry-level, small-footprint database based on the Oracle Database code base. It's free to develop, deploy, and distribute; fast to download; and simple to administer. Download the latest version and perform the installation accepting defaults as provided by the Wizard. During the install you will be asked to provide a system password for the XE database. Ensure that you write down the password to use later as needed to unlock the HR schema required for the lab! Instructions for unlocking the HR schema are provided in the lab. If you are going to use an existing Oracle database on your machine - make sure you have the HR Schema installed on that database. Download Oracle 11g XE Database Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 Studio Edition Oracle JDeveloper is a free integrated development environment that simplifies the development of Java-based SOA applications and user interfaces with support for the full development life cycle. Make sure you download the Studio Edition of JDeveloper. Download version 11.1.1.6.0 and perform the installation accepting defaults as provided by the Wizard. Note - while there is a newer version of JDeveloper available (11.1.2) it doesn't contain the WebCenter extension that is needed for the lab that will be run in the event. Download Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 Oracle_WebCenter_Extension Oracle WebCenter Extensions provides design time capabilities for the WebCenter Customization Framework as well as the WebCenter Framework and Services. In order to leverage WebCenter at design time within JDeveloper, these extensions are required. The following process will walk you through downloading and installing these extensions in JDeveloper. Start up Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0. Check for Updates via JDeveloper's "Help" menu along the top of the development environment and select "Check for Updates...". ![]() Select "Search Update Centers" and check "Oracle Fusion Middleware Products". Select "Next" to continue. ![]() Select both "WebCenter Customization Framework Desigh Time" and "WebCenter Framework and Services Design Time". Select "Next" to continue. ![]() The updates will download. ![]() Select "Finish" to exit the update center. ![]() To finish installing the WebCenter updates you must restart JDeveloper. Select "Yes" to restart now. Summary You have successfully satisfied all prerequisites for the lab after downloading and installing Oracle XE, Oracle JDeveloper, and Oracle WebCenter extensions for JDeveloper. |
