ANTs Compatibility Server Migrates Legacy Applications
ANTs Software, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork and a developer of high-performance SQL data management systems, is releasing the ANTs Compatibility Server (ACS), a tool for consolidating disparate databases.
The ANTs Compatibility Server is a database virtualization middleware layer through which a Sybase legacy application can run transparently against an Oracle database with few or no changes. Queries, functions, stored procedures, and other functionality from the legacy Sybase application run natively on the ANTs Compatibility Server, which also connects natively to the target Oracle database.
"With this product, you no longer need the Sybase database," says Cesar Rojas, senior director of product marketing, ANTs Software. "You have no more costs for Sybase licensing or for Sybase support. Your whole application runs within the Oracle database, so you get added benefits like Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle's superior security and performance." At the end of 2007, ANTs had launched a testing program with the ACS Consortium, a group of 10 customers with complex Sybase-to-Oracle migration projects. Migrations from and to other databases are planned.
