MSA Devices

 

Mobile device manufacturers are beginning to announce and to make MSA conformant devices available. Here is a list of some of the devices currently announced or available.

Nokia
Nokia 5610 XpressMusic The Nokia 5610 XpressMusic is a quad band GSM, dual band WCDMA device. It is an MSA subset device that also includes JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, and the Nokia UI API. The 5610 includes a 3.2 megapixel camera and support for microSD cards up to 4GB.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is a tri-band GSM. It is an MSA subset device that also includes JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, and the Nokia UI API. The 5310 includes a 2 megapixel camera and support for microSD cards up to 4GB.

Nokia 6555 The dual mode WCDMA/GSM quad-band Nokia 6555 is an MSA subset device. In addition to supporting the 9 JSRs that are make of the subset it also supports JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.

Nokia 7500 Prism The Nokia 7500 Prism is a tri-band GSM device with a 240x320 pixel 2.0" display. LIke the other Nokia devices it offers MSA subset along with JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.

Nokia 7900 Prism The Nokia 7900 Prism is a dual band WCDMA and quad band GSM device with an integrated 2 megapixel camera and 1 GB of internal memory. It offers MSA subset with JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.

Nokia 6267 Nokia 6267 is a quad band GSM / WCDMA phone. Like the above phones it is an MSA subset device that also supports JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.

Nokia 6500 classic The Nokia 6500 classic is quad-band GSM phone that features dial nand 3G technology. The device is an MSA subset device that additionally supports JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.

Nokia 6500 slide The Nokia 6500 slide is an MSA subset device that also includes JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API. The phone features a 3.2 megapixel camera and 4GB microSD memory card support.

Nokia 6301 Announced Sep 20, 2007 the Nokia 6301 offers voice and data over GSM cellular and WLAN networks using Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology. It is another in the line MSA subset ++ devices, adding the familiar JSR 172 - Web Services, JSR 177 - SATSA, JSR 211 - Content Handler, JSR 234 - Advanced Multimedia Supplements, and the Nokia UI API.
 

Sony Ericsson
Z750 Z750 - first Java Platform 8 (JP-8) phone supporting MSA. The phone was announced in April 2007 for availability in Q3 2007. The phone is a full MSA device that also supports JSR 239 - Java Binding for the OpenGL ES API. The phone supports UMTS/HSDPA, Quad-band GSM and EDGE.

K850 K850 - a 5 megapixel, 3G, and HSDPA device that is full MSA (JP-8). The phone also includes JSR 239 - Java Binding for the OpenGL ES API and JSR256 - Mobile Sensor API. The phone is scheduled to be available in Q4 2007.

W920 W910 - a 3G and HSDPA Walkman® phone running JP-8 makes this Sony Ericsson's 3rd MSA phone. Announced at the same time as the K850, the supports JSR 239 - Java Binding for the OpenGL ES API and JSR256 - Mobile Sensor API along with full MSA. Availability is scheduled for Q4 2007.
