Multiple Document Interfaces

Avoid designing a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) application--an application in which primary windows are represented as internal window s inside a backing window .

Many users have trouble manipulating the windows of MDI applications. In addition, an MDI application's main window can sometimes obscure a user's view of other applications.

Use no internal windows in your application.
