This tutorial covers creating metadata extract files for Performance Management Architect applications by using EPM Architect File Generator.

Scenario


Your company finalized its metadata structure in a testing environment and is ready to move the metadata from the testing environment to the production environment. To do this, you use the EPM Architect File Generator utility. The utility extracts the metadata from the Financial Management files or a Financial Management application and creates metadata extract files (.ads). You then use the extract files to load the metadata into the production environment.

Prerequisites


Before starting this tutorial, you should:

1.

Have access to or have installed Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition 11.1.1.0.0
2.

Have installed two Financial Management applications (Comma and Training applications are used for this tutorial.)

Creating Metadata Extract Files


You create metadata extract files from Financial Management files or Financial Management applications.

You can use the following Financial Management file types to create a metadata extract file: application profile (.PER), security (.SEC), and metadata (.XML).

Your company asked you to create two metadata extract files. One extract file is from existing Comma Financial Management files (CommaCalendar.per, Comma.sec, and Comma.xml.) The other extract file is from the Financial Management application named Training.

Creating Metadata Extract Files from Financial Management Files

 

1.

Navigate to C:\Hyperion\products\Foundation\BPMA\EPMAFileGenerator\bin directory, and double-click the EPMAFileGenerator.exe file.

 
2.

Select the From HFM Files tab.


 
3.

Perform the following actions:

a. Click Browse, and select CommaCalendar.per, Comma.sec, and Comma.xml from the location specified in the following table:

Please select HFM Profile file C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\SampleApps\Comma\Profile\CommaCalendar.per
Please select HFM Security file C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\SampleApps\Comma\Security\Comma.sec
Please select HFM Metadata file C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\SampleApps\Comma\Metadata\Comma.xml
Please specify the EPMA import file C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\SampleApps\Comma\EPMAImport.ads
Dimension prefix (optional) COMMA_

b. Click Browse, and specify the location and name of the EPMA import file as C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\SampleApps\Comma\EPMAImport.ads.

c. Enter COMMA_ as the prefix for dimensions.

d. Click Execute.

 
4.

Verify that the EPMA file was generated successfully, and click View to review the EMPAImport.ads file.

 
5.

Perform the following actions:

a. Review the EPMAImport.ads file.

Note: All dimensions are prefixed by COMMA_ .

b. Select File > Close to close the EMPA.ads file.

1.

In the Hyperion EPMA File Generator dialog box, select the From HFM Application tab.

 
2.

Perform the following actions:

a. Enter the following information:

Field Value
Please enter User Name trnadmin
Password hyperion
Please enter Workspace URL: http://w2k3b:19000/workspace
Please enter HFM Web URL: http://w2k3b/HFM
Please enter HFM Application name Training
Cluster Name w2k3b

b.For the EPMA import file, click Browse, and specify the location and name of the EMPA file as: C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\EPMAImport_Training.ads.

c. Enter Training_ as the prefix for the dimensions.

d. Click Execute.


 
3.

Verify that the EPMA file was generated successfully, and click View to review the EPMAImport_Training.ads file.

 

4.

 

Perform the following actions:

a. Review the EPMAImport_Training.ads file.

Note: All dimensions are prefixed by Training_ .

b. Select File > Close to close the EMPAImport_Training.ads file.
