Oracle Portlet Developer Kit (PDK)

Focus Area Divider.
The Oracle Portlet Developer Kit (PDK) is the framework for seamless integration of new and existing applications into Oracle Portal. The PDK allows developers to build portlets using a wide range of technologies, including JSR 168, Java EE 5, J2EE, Web Services, and more. The PDK also includes the Oracle Portlet Container for deploying JSR 168 portlets. Portlets deployed to the Oracle Portlet Container are exposed via WSRP. The PDK is included with the Oracle Portal license.

Note:  The latest version of the PDK is 10.1.3.2, released with Oracle WebCenter. Oracle Portal 10.1.4 can consume WSRP and PDK-Java portlets deployed to the 10.1.3.2 portlet container. See the PDK 10.1.3.2 page for details.

On this page, you find information pertaining to PDK 10.1.2.0.2, which was released with Oracle Portal 10.1.4. See Metalink Note 335911.1 to review and download the patches for the 10.1.2.0.2 PDK. Earlier versions of the PDK are also available for download—use the links in the Previous Releases portlet on the sidebar.

Oracle PDK-Java 10.1.2.0.2 Software and Utilities

Focus Area Bullet. Download PDK-Java software, PortalTools (OmniPortlet & Web Clipping), and common libraries. Review the installation doc and release notes.  Optionally, you can download the preconfigured standalone OC4J with PDK below. For non-Oracle containers, download the common libraries for non oracle.
Focus Area Bullet. Download the preconfigured OC4J. This download contains the portlet standards, PDK-Java, OmniPortlet, and Web Clipping already deployed and ready to use within OC4J 10.1.2.0.2.  Simply download, extract, and start OC4J.
Focus Area Bullet. Download the PDK-Java TestSuite. The TestSuite allows you to do performance and unit testing of your Web provider without the need for an OracleAS Portal instance.
Oracle Portlet Container 10.1.2.0.2
Oracle Portlet Container enables you to quickly and easily build and run interoperable Java portlets. The container provides a runtime environment for Java portlets coded to the standard Java Portlet Specification (JSR 168) APIs that enable the portlets to be consumed by any portal supporting the OASIS Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) 1.0 standard.
Focus Area Bullet. Download the Oracle Portlet Container 10.1.2.0.2 to deploy JSR 168 portlets. Follow the instructions in the 10.1.4 Portal Developer's Guide (Section 6.3), available on the Portal Documentation site, to install the portlet container.

Portal Extension for JDeveloper
Create, test, and deploy Java portlets from within Oracle JDeveloper. The Portal Extension for JDeveloper includes two wizards:
  • Standards-based Java Portlet Wizard, which helps you build portlets based on the JSR 168 Portlet Standard.
  • Oracle PDK-Java Portlet Wizard, which helps you build portlets based on the PDK APIs.

Both wizards guide you through the steps of creating the portlet skeleton; then you simply need to implement your business logic.

Note: The Studio Edition of Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.2, released with Oracle WebCenter Suite, contains the latest versions of the portlet creation wizards. See the JDeveloper Downloads page.

The information below pertains to JDeveloper 9.0.5 or 10.1.2.

Oracle PDK-PL/SQL Downloads
Focus Area Bullet. Download PL/SQL samples, API, and articles.
Focus Area Bullet. Download the PL/SQL Generator, a Web application that creates installable PL/SQL code for a database provider and its portlets based on the provider and portlet definitions that are stored in the form of an XML file.
Portal Integration Kit (POINT) Portlets
Portal Integration (POINT) offers portlets that allow Oracle Portal users to integrate popular applications with their portal. Source code is provided with the POINT portlets to allow developers to enhance the portlets' functionality as well as to use them as samples to build their own portlets.
