What is Forms and Reports Services Installation?
Oracle Application Server Forms and Reports Services installation allows you to install and configure Forms and Reports Services without the need to install and configure all components of Oracle Application Server 10g. This was a new installation type introduced in Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4), and is also available in Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2). In previous versions of Oracle Application Server, such as Oracle9iAS Release 2, installation of Forms and Reports Services (BI and Forms installation type) required the installation of OracleAS Infrastructure, which is no longer required in Forms and Reports Services installation type.

As a result, the advantage of the Forms and Reports Services installation is that it is relatively lightweight, simpler, and easier to configure and manage. However, this install type cannot deliver all of the features and functionality of the Oracle Application Server Enterprise Edition.
