When deploying reports on the Web, it is crucial to ensure a secure publishing environment. To ensure a good user experience, security should provide a single point of entry to your users, protecting them from the tedious task of multiple logins. Users should not have to log in to one system for one application and then log in to another one for a different application. Not only are patchwork systems such as these annoying for users, they require duplicate efforts from IT groups who must administer and maintain users on these disparate security systems.

Since OracleAS Reports Services is integrated with OracleAS Portal and Oracle Internet Directory (OID), users need only log in to their portal once to be able to access all of their applications, including their reports. The data security logins are maintained in OID. So, even if users have queries that connect to five different secured data sources, they can simply login once and run all their queries. Even at the application level, a user can run a secured report by using a single authentication.
