Oracle recently released Enterprise Manager 12c Release 2 Plugin Update 1. This release introduced several new cloud management capabilities including DBaaS Snap Clone which is useful in performing functional testing on pre-existing data.

Snap Clone leverages NetApp storage technology and can clone terabytes of data in minutes. Users can create multiple copies for functional testing without consuming large amounts of disk space. The Enterprise Manager 12c Self-service paradigm enables self service administrators to set up pools of servers and service templates for provisioning and access controls for the self service users. Snap Clone also enables the self service users to take multiple snapshots of the database as backups, which the users can then easily restore from earlier snapshots.
