Tech Article: Network Virtualization and Network Resource Management
Using hypervisor-based virtualization and Oracle Solaris Zones with network virtualization plus network resource management enables a whole range of network-based architectures. This article describes what's involved in using network resource management in conjunction with hypervisors, containers, and zones in an internal virtual network.

Tech Article: The Role of Oracle Solaris Zones and Oracle Linux Containers in a Virtualization Strategy
Oracle Solaris zones are referred to as lightweight virtualization because they impose no overhead on the virtualization layer and the applications running in the non-global zones. As a result, they are a perfect choice for high performance applications. Detlef Drewanz continues his overview of virtualization strategies with a focus on Oracle Linux Containers and Oracle Solaris zones.

Blog: ZOSS - Zones on Shard Storage
If you configure Oracle Solaris 11 zones on shared storage, you can migrate them more easily. Easy migration through ZOSS lets you, for instance, detach the zone from a running system that you will be shutting down for maintenance, and attach it to a backup system. Or a larger system. Easy to do. New with Oracle Solaris 11.1.

Tech Article: How to Set Up A Load Balanced Application Across Two Oracle Solaris Zones
Install Apache Tomcat on two Oracle Solaris zones. Connect them across a VPN. And let the Integrated Load Balancer in Oracle Solaris 11 manage traffic. Presto: high(er) availability in a single server.

How to Configure Zones in Oracle Solaris 11 for Easy Cloning
Zones in Oracle Solaris 11 are great, but they're limited to the system on which your created them, right? Wrong. You can set up your zones with virtual networks so that they're easy to clone on other systems. Jeff McMeekin explains how.

How to Get Started Creating Oracle Solaris Zones in Oracle Solaris 11
Zones are more tightly integrated with other OS features in Oracle Solaris 11 than they were in Oracle Solaris 10. As a result, you can do more with zones than you could before. Plus, it's easier. But you still need to learn the new commands and procedures. This article by Duncan Hardie is a great start: it shows you how to create a zone using the command line, how to add an application to a zone, and how to clone a zone. All in Solaris 11.
