Oracle’s Sun ZFS Backup Appliance provides an integrated high performance backup solution for Exadata Database Machine, providing 20TB/hour backup throughput and 9.4TB/hour restore throughput. Technical optimizations of the ZFS Backup Appliance include tuning of the RDBMS instance, RMAN channels and Oracle Direct NFS. The ZFS Backup Appliance is thoroughly tested by Oracle engineering to ensure consistent throughput and trouble-free operation. Snapshot and cloning capabilities on the ZFS Backup Appliance enable database clones to be quickly deployed for secondary business processing, such as development, test or advanced business intelligence.
