Deploying Oracle Real Application Clusters on Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System

Sridhar Ranganathan and Jeffrey Wright, May 2009

Introduction

This quick start guide shows how to configure the Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System (2008.Q4) for Oracle RAC infrastructure deployment, using the Solaris 10 OS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) is clustered database infrastructure that offers highly scalable architecture and allows accessing the same database files from a shared storage. The Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System supports NFS v3, NFS v4, iSCSI, and CIFS protocols and comes with a comprehensive set of data service features which provides snapshots, clones, and remote replication.
