Oracle ASR Telemetry Sources

• Solaris Fault Management Architecture (FMA): Provides CPU and memory fault information from the host of some servers.
  • Solaris 10 - Sends fault events to the ASR Manager via SNMP. Use the ASR Manager "asrassetmenu.sh" script to set the SNMP trap destinations.
  • Solaris 11 - Sends fault events to the ASR Manager, or directly to Oracle Support, as XML messages via http(s). Use the Solaris asradm command to configure the asr-notify feature.

• Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM): Provides fault information from the service processor for some servers. The service processor must be networked to the ASR Manager. Please refer to your server platform documentation for instructions on how to network your service processor.

• ILOM Fault Management: Provides power and environmental and CPU and memory fault information from the service processor for some servers. The service processor must be networked to the ASR Manager. Please refer to your server platform documentation for instructions on how to network your service processor.

• Oracle Hardware Management Pack (OHMP): Contains components to provide flexible in-band management to monitor and to configure your Sun x86 Server and Blade module's hardware.
  

• XSCF Fault Management Architecture (FMA): Provides power and environmental and CPU and memory fault information from the service processor (XSCF) of the SPARC 64 VI servers (M-series).

Important: For ASR to function properly and provide the full set of coverage available for your system, you must configure the specified telemetry sources and adhere to the minimum software requirements and patch levels.

Each server model also has an ASR Plugin or Rules Bundle minimum version requirement.

• To verify the ASR Plugin version, please run "pkginfo -l SUNWswasr" on ASR Manager.
• To verify the Rules Bundle version, please run "/opt/SUNWswasr/bin/asr show_rules_version" on ASR Manager.
• To update rules, please run "/opt/SUNWswasr/bin/asr update_rules".

Command line options to show/update rules bundle are available on ASR Plugin 2.4 or above. Please refer the ASR installation and operations guide for detailed instructions on upgrading ASR Plugin and Rules Bundle.

ASR Plugin 2.4 and above supports automatic and manual Rules Bundle updates. Oracle strongly recommends updating to the latest version of Oracle Auto Service Request and activating the “auto-update” feature to automatically update the Rules Bundle.
