Overview

Using the Oracle Universal Installer, you install Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3 and then install Oracle Sensor Edge Server.

Prerequisites

Before starting this tutorial, you should:

1.

Have access to or have installed Standard or Enterprise Edition of Oracle Database 9i Release 2 or later version. Before deploying Sensor Data Streams, make sure that Oracle Database is running in ArchiveLog mode, with automatic archiving enabled. The steps to install the database are shown in Installing Oracle Database 10g on Windows tutorial.

Installing Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3 on Windows

To install Oracle Application Server, you must use the Oracle Universal Installer.

1.

In this tutorial, you install Oracle Application Server from the downloaded version. In the directory where the files were unzipped, double-click setup.exe.

 

2.

This launches the Oracle Universal Installer, through which you install Oracle Application Server. Click Next.

 

3.

Enter the path for Installation Directory. The path entered for Installation Directory is the Oracle home for this installation. Select Advanced Installation Mode. Click Next.

 

4.

The following warning appears.

Click Yes to continue with the advanced installation.

 

5.

In the Select Installation Type window, select J2EE Server and Process Management. Click Next.

 

6.

Click Next on the Specify Port Configuration Options page.

 

7.

In the Administration Instance Settings window, select Configure this as an Administration OC4J instance. Select this option to run Application Server Control on this system to provide management capabilities. Click Next.

 

8.

Enter the Oracle Application Server instance name, the password for the OC4J administrator account, and the OC4J instance name. Click Next.

 

9.

Click Next in the Cluster Topology Configuration window.

 

10.

Click Install in the Summary window.

 

11.

The Install window shows the progress of the installation.

 

12.

The Configuration Assistants window shows the name, status, and tool type for tools recommended to be run before completing the installation. Click Next.

 

13.

The End of Installation window appears. Note the information about the URLs for particular Web applications. Click Exit.

 

14.

Click Yes in the confirmation window.

Installing Oracle Sensor Edge Server on Windows

1.

In this tutorial, you install Oracle Sensor Edge Server from the downloaded version. In the directory where the files were unzipped, double-click setup.exe.

 

2.

This launches the Oracle Universal Installer, through which you install Oracle Sensor Edge Server. Click Next.

 

3.

Enter a name for the installation and the path where you want to install Oracle Sensor Edge Server. Oracle Sensor Edge Server must use the same ORACLE_HOME as OC4J. From the Name drop-down list, select the Oracle home that you provided during Oracle Application Server installation. Click Next.

 

4.

Select Java Development and Deployment Services 10.1.3.0.0 in the Select a Product to Install window. Click Next.

 

5.

Select Oracle Sensor Edge Server in the Select Installation Type window. Click Next.

 

6.

Select Sensor Edge Server 10.1.3.0.0 in the Available Product Components window. Click Next.

 

7.

Enter a password for the OC4J administrator in the J2EE Container (OC4J) Password window. This is the administrator password that you defined when you installed Oracle Application Server. Click Next.

 

8.

Select Yes in the Sensor Data Repository Installation window. This is an optional step that enables you to connect the Sensor Edge Server to a Sensor Data Repository. If you select No, and you later want to use the Sensor Data Repository, you can configure it manually. Click Next.

 

9.

Select Create a new Sensor Data Repository in the Sensor Data Repository Configuration window. Click Next.

 

10.

Enter the database system password and TNS connect string information for the Sensor Data Repository in the SDR Database Connection Information window.
Enter the TNS Connect String value in the following format:
(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = <hostname>.<domain>) (PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)))
Click Next.

 

11.

In the Sensor Data Repository Password window, enter a password that you want to use for the Sensor Data Repository schema. Click Next.

 

12.

In the Sensor Data Streams Installation window, select Yes to connect the Sensor Edge Server to Sensor Data Streams. Click Next.

 

13.

In the Connect to an Existing SDS window, select Create a new Sensor Data Streams schema. Click Next.

 

14.

Before deploying Sensor Data Streams, make sure that Oracle Database is running in ArchiveLog mode, with automatic archiving enabled.
Enter the database system password and TNS connect string information in the Sensor Data Streams Configuration window. Enter the TNS Connect String value in the following format:
(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = <hostname>.<domain>) (PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = orcl))) Click Next.

 

15.

In the Summary window, verify the installation options, and click Install.

 

16.

In the Configuration Assistants window, wait for the configuration assistants to finish. Click Next.

 

17.

Click Exit in the End of Installation window.

 

18.

Click Yes in the Exit dialog box.

 

19.

The Oracle Sensor Edge Server Welcome window appears.

 

20.

Verify that your OC4J server is running. If OC4J Server is not running, start the OC4J Server using the following command. Switch to the command prompt, change directory to < edgeserver_home>ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin and issue the command

opmnctl startall

 

21.

To display the Sensor Edge Server login page, open a browser window, and enter the following URL for the Sensor Edge Server console:

http://< host name>.< domain>:< port number for HTTP service>/edge
