Due to limitations imposed by an outdated technology platform, Genentech decided to migrate PathLIMS to the latest Java technologies in order to future-proof the critical system. This is one of the largest IT initiatives Genentech has outsourced, so we were very careful in selecting a reliable vendor to carry out the work. We chose SoftSol based on positive references from multiple previous customers and proven automated migration tools. Their processes, policies, and facilities met our strict internal security requirements. SoftSol worked with Genentech to set up a secure, dedicated network line between our South San Francisco facilities and SoftSol’s offshore development center. This enabled both teams to work off shared servers, repositories, databases and test environments. Additionally, SoftSol implemented a separate sub network in its offshore facilities which restricted access to only authorized team members from Genentech and SoftSol.
