Recently a customer identified a problem that could potentially cause a security vulnerability in certain versions of BEA WebLogic Server and Express. This problem has been corrected in recent Service Packs. BEA treats such possibilities with the highest degree of urgency and does everything possible to ensure the security of all customer assets. As a result, we strongly suggest the following action:

A potential security vulnerability was discovered that could allow HTTP response data to be shared among two users.
The following BEA WebLogic Server and Express releases are affected by this vulnerability
- Version: BEA WebLogic Server and Express 6.1, 6.1 SP1, 6.1 SP2, 7.0 and 188.8.131.52.
The WebLogic Server buffers response data for better performance. A defect exists that allows a data buffer to be shared between two http responses. This is a rare random occurrence that cannot be intentionally exploited. The defect has been remedied in WebLogic Server 7.0 Service Pack 1 and WebLogic Server 6.1, Service Pack 3.
II. SUGGESTED ACTION
Oracle strongly recommends the following course of actions:
Apply the appropriate Service Pack:
- Version: BEA WebLogic Server and Express 7.0, released or 184.108.40.206.
- Upgrade to Service Pack 1
- Version: BEA WebLogic Server and Express version 6.1 standalone and as part of BEA WebLogic Enterprise 6.1 , released or Service Pack 1.
- Upgrade to Service Pack 3.
