Oracle Hosts North American Users Groups Presidents Meeting
and International Users Group Summit on January 30th-31st at Oracle Headquarters
Oracle extends its sincere gratitude to all the users group Presidents, committee leads and other members that traveled from all corners of the world to participate in the two-day meeting in Redwood Shores, CA. The meetings' objectives included:

1. Gather all North American Users Group Presidents together to address concerns of the regional groups, update them on Oracle initiatives in North America, and outline the process for completing a successful initiative that will increase membership in the users group community.
2. Bring together the International Oracle Users Group Community (IOUC) and host the 2008 Users Group Summit (formerly known as the Partner’s Meeting). The 2008 Users Group Summit included users group Presidents and leaders from around the world and offered them the opportunity to network with the international community of leaders, share best practices, meet with Oracle senior executives and product managers, and address issues of concern to users group members worldwide.

Oracle to Acquire BEA Systems
On January 16, 2008, Oracle announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire BEA Systems, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise application infrastructure solutions.

Oracle Buys Document Capture Leader Captovation
On January 16, 2008, Oracle announced its plans to acquire Captovation, a leading provider of document capture solutions that streamline the process of capturing mission-critical content for access from within business applications and processes. With the addition of Captovation, Oracle expects to extend its comprehensive and integrated solution for Enterprise Content Management with transactional content processing.
