DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE CLEARS ORACLE'S ACQUISITION OF BEA SYSTEMS
The U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission have granted early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) review period for Oracle's proposed acquisition of BEA Systems, Inc. As previously announced, BEA has scheduled a special meeting of its stockholders, to be held at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, April 4, 2008 to consider and vote on the proposed merger. The transaction still requires BEA stockholder approval and regulatory clearance from the European Commission and is subject to other closing conditions.

PATCHES FIX TIMEOUT ISSUE
When running release 12 Oracle E-Business Suite RDA inside diagnostics, occasionally the execution has a tendency to timeout due to the quantity of data being collected. The workaround (found in the FAQ) was to follow the instructions provided by note 427278.1, which explains how to execute this test from the command line. By installing patches 6631337 and 6503842, the previously hard-coded timeout values have been moved to profile options. In the event RDA (or any other diagnostic) runs longer than expected, the timeout issue can be easily resolved by increasing the value of one (or more) of these newly defined profile options. The patch read-me's will provide complete and detailed information on default values and how these should be set.

This program provides an avenue for new, third-party technologies such as operating systems or database versions to be certified with PeopleSoft outside of the normal development cycle. Customers who want to use business services, enhanced XMLP, effective dates for daylight saving time, developer productivity enhancements, and security enhancements will need to download the planner ESU (electronic software update) JK14575 and the baseline ESU JK14530.

ENTERPRISEONE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND COMPLIANCE CONSOLE AVAILABLE
The EnterpriseOne Financial Management and Compliance Console is now generally available for 8.11SP1 and 8.12 customers and provides operational users with a collection of metrics, key performance indicators, and compliance alerts. It's also available through your local Global Customer Care Center. The Independent Oracle Users Group, the Oracle Applications Users Group, and Quest International Users Group are once again collaborating to host COLLABORATE 08, a technology and applications forum for the Oracle community. During COLLABORATE 08, each user group will have its own forum, including educational sessions, dedicated networking events, and speakers, as well as joint events. Registration includes access to all three forums. There will also be a special Hyperion track.
