User Preferences

This chapter provides information on WebHammer preferences. It contains the following section:

Timeout

The user preferences file is called .whammer and is located in the directory in which the hammer command is invoked.


Note:

The . indicates that whammer is a hidden file. 


It contains the user preferences associated with the hammer command. The format is a keyword followed by a numeric value. Currently, the only preference supported is TIMEOUT.

The TIMEOUT preference specifies the maximum time that the hammer command waits for a response from the Web server to a URL operation that was sent to the Web server.

The default value for TIMEOUT is 20 seconds.

The following is an example of the TIMEOUT user preference:

TIMEOUT 25
