Best Practices for Cloning ASM-managed Databases
Cloning and refreshing databases for development, testing, and reporting purposes is a common activity for most DBAs. The methods used can range from third party tools to OS or storage-level procedures, and can require additional licensing costs as well as specialized expertise in hardware and storage technologies. As DBAs know their data the best, DBAs should be fully empowered to clone the database for their own needs.
