Oracle by Example - Oracle Database 10g on a Single Instance

Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing

Oracle Database 10g is an analysis-ready database with ETL, OLAP, and data mining built into the data server where analysis takes place. This results in a reduction in the total cost of ownership while enabling customers to derive more value from their data. Business intelligence applications can be consolidated alongside transactional applications using Real Application Clusters. This consolidation means analysis can be performed directly against operational data, and resource utilization can be maximized by reallocating servers to workloads as business needs change. The value of data is increased with the ability to perform even more diverse analytic operations against core data, such as with the new SQL MODEL clause. You can use the SQL MODEL clause to query results to be treated as sets of multidimensional arrays upon which sophisticated interdependent formulas are built.

In this section of the Oracle by Example Series, you will install and configure the Oracle Platform so that you may perform the other lessons in this Series. This section will get you up and running so that you can start using the latest features of Oracle Database 10g.
