Overview
In this lesson you will learn how to log in to the Oracle
Warehouse Builder Design Repository database where your warehouse design metadata
is stored. After logging in you will import objects from an export file using
the Warehouse Builder client.
Before logging on with the your user name
and password, you must establish the TNS Names connect information. Click
Connection Info.....
The Connect Information window opens.

Provide the Host Name as localhost
or <name of your computer>,Port Number
1521, and Oracle Service Name as obeowb or
<your database service name>. Click OK.

The Warehouse Builder Logon
window reappears. Enter design_client for the User Name
and design_client as the Password. These are the same
username and password that you created using OWB Repository Assistant
in Lesson 1. Click Logon.

The main Oracle Warehouse Builder console appears.
The Metadata Import Utility lets you import objects from an
export file into a Warehouse Builder repository. In this topic you will import
MDL file OWB10g_DEMO.mdl to partially prepare your design time environment.
After you successfully complete the import you will have a partially prepopulated
project that you will use in a few lessons in the course.
In Warehouse Builder 10g Release 1 (10.1),
you do not have to use the Metadata Loader File Upgrade Utility to upgrade your
metadata from a previous version of Warehouse Builder to Oracle Warehouse Builder
10g Release 1 (10.1). When you import an MDL file into 10g Release 1 (10.1),
Warehouse Builder automatically detects the version from which the file was
exported and upgrades it to the current version. However, you still have the
choice to upgrade your metadata separately by manually running the MDL File
Upgrade Utility.
1.
In the Oracle Warehouse Builder console, from the menu
select Project>Metadata
Import> File.
2.
The Metadata Import Utility
window appears. You will specify the name and location for the import
file.
For the import filename, click Browse. Navigate to the
folder C:\OWB-OBE\mdl, or where you have saved the setup
files as instructed in Lesson 1. Select the OWB10g_DEMO.mdl
file.
Warehouse Builder records information about the import in a log file.
Accept the default log file name. For Import Options select Add
new metadata only and for Match By select Universal Identifier
and click Import.

The Oracle Warehouse Builder console is displayed
with the OWB10g_DEMO project successfully imported.
