Overview
In this lesson, you will learn how to create a target
module. Creating a Target Module is simple and similar to defining source modules.
Warehouse modules contain definitions to build your warehouse. Warehouse Builder
stores the definitions for your target schema in warehouse modules.
The Target module that you will create will eventually
be used to store object definitions.
1.
In the OWB10g_DEMO
project, expand Databases, right click the Oracle
node. Select Create Oracle Module.
2.
Click Next on the New Module
Wizard: Welcome Page. The New Module Wizard: Name page
appears. Name the module DQ_TEST. Select Warehouse
Target as the module type. Click Next.
3.
The New Module Wizard: Connection
Information page appears. On this page you provide information
needed to import metadata.
Select Oracle Data Dictionary to import metadata from
an Oracle database.
The Database Link information is needed only if you want to import metadata
into the warehouse module. Leave the Database Link field
empty, as you are not importing any data definitions. Click Next.
4.
The New Module Wizard: Location page
is displayed. On this page you create a new location or choose from a
drop-down list of previously specified locations.
Locations define information about the database schema or target tool
where you will be deploying objects.
For this lesson you will not create a new location. Instead, from the
drop-down list select the predefined location TARGET_LOC.
Click Next.
5.
The New Module Wizard: Finish
page is displayed. Review the definitions you created.
6.
Click Finish. Warehouse Builder
added the target module DQ_TEST under the Databases node.
In the OWB10g_DEMO project, expand DQ_TEST.
You will notice there are many object definitions you can create in the
context of a target module:
