This tutorial shows you how to administer Oracle Calendar holidays by managing users holiday administrative rights. It also shows you how to create, modify, and delete a holiday in Oracle Calendar.

Overview

The Calendar Administrator is an online server management tool that allows Administrators to manage holidays, groups, user accounts, resources, and event calendars in the calendar server database.

Holidays are special events that appear in the calendars of all users and event calendars in a node. Holidays can be created one-by-one by any user with the proper administrative rights, through the Oracle Calendar Administrator, or one of the Oracle Calendar desktop clients.

The focus of this tutorial is to illustrate how manage holidays in Oracle Calendar.

Max Hogan, the Business Administrator, is responsible to manage the holidays in Oracle Calendar. He must create, modify, and delete holidays; in addition to assigning holiday administration rights to users.

Have access to or have installed Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g.

Have access to or have configured Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g.

3.

Have access to or create holidays in Oracle Calendar for Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g.

Assigning Holiday Administration Rights to a User

The SYSOP, by default, has holiday management rights. As an Administrator, you can also assign holiday administration rights to a regular Calendar user either through the Calendar Administrator or the command line.

As the Business Administrator, Max has to assign holiday administration rights to the users. He uses the following steps to perform this task.

To assign holiday administration rights to a user, perform the following steps:

1.

Open a new browser window and enter the following URL:

http://<OCS host>:7778/ocad-bin/ocad.cgi?object=nodeadm

In the Single Sign-On page, log on with your <username> and <password> and then click Sign In.

 

2.

In the Log In page in Calendar, log on with your <user name> and <password> and then click SSO.

 

3.

In the Welcome page of the Calendar Administrator tool, click the Calendar Management tab.

 

4.

Search for the user. In the for field, enter the name of the user to whom you want to assign holiday administration rights and then click Go.

 

5.

Click the Update (pencil) icon next to the username to whom you want to assign holiday administration rights.

 

6.

Click the Administrative Rights link.

 

7.

Select Manage Holidays in the Node Management section and then click Apply.

 

8.

Click Go to assign the holiday administration rights and to return to the Users page. Log out and close the Browser window.

Creating a Holiday in Oracle Calendar

In this topic, you create a holiday in Oracle Calendar. Max has to create holidays in Oracle Calendar. He uses the following steps to perform this task.

To create a holiday in Oracle Calendar, perform the following steps:

1.

Open a new browser window and enter the following URL:

http://<OCS host>:7778/ocad-bin/ocad.cgi?object=nodeadm

In the Single Sign-On page, log on with your <username> and <password> and then click Sign In.

 

2.

In the Log In page in Calendar, log on with your <user name> and <password> and then click SSO.

 

3.

In the Welcome page of the Calendar Administrator tool, click the Server Administration tab.

 

4.

Click the Manage Holiday icon (last on the right) associated with your Calendar node in the Nodes tabbed page.

 

5.

Click the Create Holiday (candle) icon.

 

6.

Enter details in the Title and Start Time fields and then click Apply.

 

7.

Click Go to display the holiday as a part of the month view. Log out and close the Browser window.

Modifying a Holiday in Oracle Calendar

In this topic, you edit a holiday that was created in Oracle Calendar. Max has to modify the holidays in Oracle Calendar. He uses the following steps to perform this task.

To edit holiday details, perform the following steps:

1.

Open a new browser window and enter the following URL:

In the Single Sign-On page, log on with your <username> and <password> and then click Sign In.

 

2.

In the Log In page in Calendar, log on with your <user name> and <password> and then click SSO.

 

3.

In the Welcome page of the Calendar Administrator tool, click the Server Administration tab.

 

4.

Click the Manage Holiday icon (last on the right) associated with your Calendar node in the Nodes tabbed page.

 

5.

Click the link for the holiday you want to edit.

 

6.

Edit the Title and/or Start time details as required and then click Apply.

 

7.

Click Go to display the holiday as a part of the month view. Log out and close the Browser window.

Deleting a Holiday in Oracle Calendar

Click the Delete (trash) icon next to the holiday you want to delete.

 

6.

Click Go. Log out and close the Browser window.
