The Calendar Administrator is an online server management tool that allows Administrators to manage user accounts, groups, resources, event calendars, and holidays in the calendar server database. This tutorial covers how to manage rights of a user: to grant administrative rights to a user to perform administrative calendar tasks, to grant rights to a user to view calendars, to grant rights to a user to act as a designate of another user's calendar, or to modify the default calendar access rights of a user. It also covers how to modify the calendar profile used for new users, to modify properties of a calendar user account, and to transfer calendar entries of one user to another. The focus of this tutorial is to illustrate how to perform administrative tasks related to Oracle Calendar user accounts. ScenarioMax Hogan the Business Administrator is responsible to manage the user accounts in Oracle Calendar. He must manage the rights of a user, modify the calendar profile for new users, modify user accounts, and transfer calendar entries from one user to another. Before starting this tutorial, you should:
Most of the administrative operations for Oracle Calendar can be performed by regular calendar users. The Administrator (or SYSOP-calendar SYStem OPerator) must first grant the users administration rights. These administrative rights limit the operations any given user can perform using the Oracle Calendar Administrator and command-line calendar utilities. Different sets of rights can be granted to different users based on what they should manage: users, resources, event calendars, groups, node network, or calendar server. For example, it may be useful to give designated employees in Human Resources administrative rights for holidays. Those employees could then add, modify, and delete holidays in the Oracle Calendar Administrator by signing in with their own user name and password. Once administrative rights have been granted, the user can then perform administrative operations by logging in to the Oracle Calendar Administrator as themselves. In this topic you grant administrative, viewing, and designate rights to a user. You also modify default access rights of a user.
Antonio Garcia the Sales Manager requests for administration rights to Oracle Calendar. Max gives Antonio administrative rights using the following steps. To grant administrative rights to a user, perform the following steps:
To grant viewing and designate rights to a user, perform the following steps:
Jamie Calanca asks Max to modify the default viewing rights to the tasks and events in her calendar. Max uses the following steps to perform the task. To modify the default access rights of a user, perform the following steps:
Before adding users to the Calendar node you (as the Business Administrator) define a default user profile. By using a default user profile, you can set client display preferences, administrative rights, default viewing privileges, or other parameters for a group of users. This default user profile may also be applied to existing users. In this topic you modify the default calendar profile for new users. Max has to modify the default user profile so that saturdays are included in the users calendar view. Max uses the following steps to perform the task.
