Deploying Oracle Collaboration Suite in a Multiple-Backend
Installation
The goal of this tutorial is to show you how install Oracle Collaboration
Suite (OCS) using multiple servers. This includes all components of OCS: OCS
Databse, Infrastructure, and the Mid-Tier applications.
Approximately 3 to 4 hours (this will depend on your machine
setup).
This tutorial covers the following topics:

This tutorial covers how to install the components of OCS
on multiple backend machines. The focus of this tutorial is provide an overview
of each step involved in the installation process. This includes installing
the OCS Database, the Oracle Collaboration Suite Infrastructure, and the Mid-Tier
applications.

Before starting this tutorial, you should:

To improve the performance or the software on Linux
systems, you must increase the following shell limits for the oracle
user, depending on the user's default shell.
To increase the shell limits, complete the following
steps:
|
1. Add the following lines to /etc/security/limits.conf
file:
*
soft nproc 2047
* hard nproc 16384
* soft nofile 16384
* hard nofile 65536
|

2. Add the following lines to the /etc/pam.d/login
file, if it does not already exist:
session
required /lib/security/pam_limits.so

3. Depending on the oracle user's default shell,
make the following changes to the default shell start-up file.
For the Bourne, Bash, or Korn shell, add the following
lines to the /etc/profile
file:

To begin an installation of the OCS Infrastructure
and OCS Database, perform the following steps:
|
1.
|
At the prompt, invoke the Installation wizard by executing
the following command:
>$
/stage/DVD_1/runInstaller

|
|
2.
|
The Welcome page appears. Select Advanced Installation.
Click Next to continue.

|
| 3. |
On the Specify Inventory directory and credentials window, you can set
the full path of the inventory directory and the operating system group
name. Click Next.

| 4. |
During the installation process, a script needs to be run in order to
continue:

|
| 5. |
Open a new window and log in as root. Navigate to the oraInventory
directory and execute the orainstRoot.sh script by typing the commands
in bold listed below:
>$ cd /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory
>$./orainstRoot.sh

|
| 6. |
Once the script has finished, return to the Installation Wizard and click
Continue.

|
| 7. |
In the Specify File Locations window, you set both the Source and Destination
file locations of the products that you want to install. Click Next.

|
| 8. |
The Select a Product to Install window gives you three installation options.
Select Oracle Collaboration Suite Infrastructure 10.1.2.0.0. Click
Next.

Depending on your selection in the previous window, the Select Installation
Type window gives you the choice of determining which type of installation
that you would like. Select the Identity Management and Collaboration
Suite Database option. Click Next.

The next window verifies that the system meets all of the minimum requirements
for installing and configuring the chosen product. After the check has
completed, click Next.

You can select the language in which Oracle Collaboration Suite will
run. To select all the available languages, click the >>
button.

Click Next to continue.

| 13. |
The Select Configuration Options screen allows you to choose the Configuration
Assistants (CA) to run. By default all by the Oracle Applicaiton Server
Certificate Authority and the Oracle Application Server High Availability
CAs are selected. click Next.

The Specify Namespace in Internet Directory window allows you to specify
a location, or namespace, in the Oracle Internet Directory. By default,
the Suggested Namespace is selected. Click Next.

|
| 15. |
The Specify Port Configuration Options window allows you to choose between
automatic or manual port selection for Oracle Internet Directory. By default,
Automatic Port Selection is selected. Click Next.

| 16. |
An account name "orclguest" is automatically set up for the
OCS components that use this Oracle Internet Directory. On the Guest Account
Password window, set the Password and Confirm Password fields
for the orclguest user. Click Next.

In the Specify Database Configuration Options window, enter the Global
Database Name (usually it is the database SID plus the domain
name), the SID, and the database files location. Click Next.

| 18. |
Within the Specify Database Schema Passwords window, you have the choice
of setting different passwords for each of the pre-loaded schemas (this
is the default value), or to use the same password for all of the accounts.
This example uses the Use the same password for all of the above accounts
option. Input and confirm the necessary password. Click Next.

All OracleAS instances installed on a host must have unique names. The
Specify Instance Name and ias_admin Password window is where you set the
Instance Name, the ias_admin Password, and the Confirm
Password fields. Input the appropriate values and click Next.

| 20. |
The Summary window appears. From this window you can view the Global
Settings, Product Languages, Space Requirements, and New Installations.
If you would like to change any of the configurations, you can select
the Back button. Otherwise, click Install to begin the installation
process.

The installation proceeds.

During this installation process, a script needs to be run in order to
continue:

Open a new window and log in as root. Navigate to the ocs_1 directory
and execute the root.sh script by typing the commands in bold listed
below:
>$ cd /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.2/ocs_1
>$./root.sh

Once the script has finished, return back to the Installation Wizard
and click OK.

The Configuration Assistants begin to run.

|

For most Configuration Assistants, you will not see additionl windows
appear. However, the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) does open
a window. You have the option to either stop the DBCA or allow to complete.

When the installation of OCS Infrastructure has completed successfully,
the End of Installation appears. Click Exit to quit the Installation
wizard.

Click Yes to confirm.

To install the OCS Mid-Tier applications, perform the
following steps:

On the Select Components to Configure window, the components that are
part of the OCS Applications are listed. For this example, all of the
OCS components are selected. Click Next.

The Register with Oracle Internet Directory window allows you to set
a Host and Port to register the instance with an existing
Oracle Internet Directory. Click Next.

| 14. |
On the Specify UserName and Password for Oracle Internet Directory, input
the Username and Password for the connect information to
the Oracle Internet Directory. Click Next.

| 15. |
The OracleAS Metadata Repository window allows you to select the Oracle
AS Metadata Repository that you want to use for the installation. Select
the appropriate value from the Database Connection String pull-down
menu. Click Next.

|
| 16. |
Depending on the previous installation choices, you must select a database
for the OCS components. On the Select Database for components window,
select the database for each component listed. Click Next.

| 17. |
There are a number of ports that need to be configured for OCS. On the
Specify Port Configuration Options window, you can either chose to have
the ports configured automatically (the default value) or manually. For
this example, Automatic Port Selection is kept as the default.
Click Next.

On the Specify Administrative Password and Instance Name window, input
values into the Instance Name, Administrative Password and
Confirm Password fields. This provides a name for the OracleAS
instance and an initial password for the OCS administrative accounts.
Click Next.

On the Oracle Calendar Server Host Alias window, enter the Host
name or Alias of the Calendar server. Click
Next.

The next window, Specify E-mail Domain Information, allows you to specify
the E-mail domain served by the middle-tier E-mail server instance. Input
your domain in the E-mail Domain field. Click Next.

The Summary window appears. From this window you can view the Global
Settings, Product Languages, Space Requirements, and New Installations.
If you would like to change any of the configurations, you can select
the Back button. Otherwise, click Install to begin the installation
process.

When the installation of OCS Applications has completed successfully,
the End of Installation appears. Click Exit to quit the Installation

Start the Oracle Mail Listener
The Oracle Mail listener, listener_es,
listens for requests to send e-mail. Because the Email listener listens on the
privileged port 25, a privileged user, such as root, must start the listener.
To start this listener, perform the following steps:

Login as root
to your machine hosting your OCS installation and set the ORACLE_HOME
variable:
>$ export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.2/ocs_1/apps

Find out the user ID and group ID of the oracle user who installed OCS:
>$ id oracle
uid=502(oracle) gid=502(oinstall)
groups=502(oinstall)

| 3. |
Start the E-Mail listener using the following command:
>$ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/tnslsnr
listener_es -user 502 -group 502 &

Verify the listener is running:
>$ ps -ef | grep listener_es

Provision orclguest
for Real-Time Collaboration and Content Services
To provision orclguest for Real-Time Collaboration and
Content Services, perform the following steps:

Open a browser window and access the Oracle Internet Directory Self Service
Console. Click the Login link.
|
| 2. |
Login as orcladmin. Click Login.
|
| 3. |
Click the Directory tab.
|
| 4. |
Enter orclguest in the Search box,
and then click Go.
|
| 5. |
Select orclguest, and then click Edit.
|
| 6. |
Click Next.
|
| 7. |
Note that Real-Time Collaboration (RTC) and Content Services are available
to be provisioned. Click Next.

Click Next.
|

Scroll down the page and verify that RTC and Content Services are listed
in the Applications to be provisioned section.
