Using Oracle Collaboration Suite Components from a PocketPC

This lesson demonstrates how to use Oracle Collaboration Suite Components using a PocketPC simulator.

This lesson will discuss the following:

Place the cursor on this icon to display all screenshots. You can also place the cursor on each icon to see only the screenshot associated with it.

You can access your e-mail, calendar, files, corporate directory, and address book anywhere, anytime using Microsoft PocketPC or any other wireless device.

In order for this lesson to work successfully, you will need your Oracle Collaboration Suite administrator to supply you with a Collaboration Suite user account. In addition:

Download and install the PocketPC Simulator.

 

Complete the Setting Up your Wireless and Voice Account lesson

 

To setup your PocketPC to be able to access Oracle Collaboration Suite Wireless, perform the following:

1.

Open Windows Explorer and double click on c:\Windows CE Tools\BIN\CEPVIEW.EXE

2.

Select Start > Internet Explorer in the Pocket PC simulator.

3.

Select View > Address Bar.

4.

Specify the following URL and press enter. Click Settings.

http://<hostname>.<domain>:7778/ptg/rm

5.

Select Work Settings for the first setting and click OK.

6.

Place your cursor in the URL field and press enter to try the URL again. You are now on the main Oracle Collaboration Suite Wireless page. Click Login.

7.

Enter the mobile number and password you entered when you configured your Wireless and Voice settings in the Oracle Collaboration Suite Portal. Then click Submit.

You can access and use Mail via the PocketPC by performing the following:

1.

From the main menu, click Mail.

2.

Your Inbox is displayed. Click the Compose icon to draft a mail.

3.

Enter heidi.guthery@oracledemos.com. Scroll down to enter a reply.

4.

Enter the following in the Subject field: Meeting about Company ABC. Enter the following message in the Body field:

Hi All,
 Let us meet today at 2 p.m. to review the presentation for Customer ABC. 
Thanks,
Susie 

and scroll down.

5.

Click Send to send the message.

6.

A confirmation window is displayed indicating that the message was sent. Click the ORACLE logo at the top of the window to return to the main menu.

You can review your calendar from the PocketPC by performing the following:

1.

Click on the Calendar application.

2.

Enter your username (susie.parker) and your password (welcome1). Click Login. Note: You just need to login here the very first time, the second time you will not be prompted for a login.

3.

You have no appointments for today. Click the -> icon to move forward one day to see if you have any appointments tomorrow.

4.

You have a few appointments on this day. Click on one of the meetings to see the details.

5.

View the event details. Scroll down to the individual components for additional information.

6.

At the bottom of the window, click Submit to return to your calendar and submit any changes you made.

7.

You are now viewing the Daily view of your calendar again. Click on the Weekly View icon (the third icon from the right).

8.

You can choose which day you want to view. Click Goto Date icon (second icon from the right).

9.

Select the day you want to go to and click Submit.

You are now ready to create an appointment. Perform the following:

1.

Click the New Appointment icon (first icon on the left).

2.

Enter a the following:

Title: Finalize presentation for Customer ABC

Set the day and time as a day later than the current date and scroll down.

3.

Select 10 minutes before in the Reminder field. Click Submit.

4.

Your appointment was created. Click the ORACLE logo at the top of the window to return to the main menu.

You can access files from the PocketPC by performing the following:

1.

Click Online Files.

3.

You see a list of folders that you have access to. Notice that you see a susie.parker-Public folder. Each user has the ability to turn their public folder on so that other users can access the content you place in this folder. To see another users folder, click AllPublic.

4.

Click Users.

Click Users-B.

6.

Notice the other Public folders listed. Click the Home icon (first icon on the left)

7.

To see a list of the Workspaces you have access to, click MyWorkspaces.

8.

You have access to the Workspaces listed. Click the ORACLE logo at the top of the window to return to the main menu.

If you need to find someone in the corporate directory, perform the following:

1.

Click Directory.

2.

In the Search field, you can either type in the full name or a subset of the name including a wildcard. Enter SUSIE.PARKER in the Search: field and click Find.

3.

All of the instances that contain the string "SUSIE.PARKER" appear in the window. Select one of the options by scrolling down the list.

4.

From there, you can see the details or e-mail the designated choice. Click the ORACLE logo at the top of the window to return to the main menu.

You can review your address book and add a contact by performing the following:

1.

Click Address Book.

2.

Enter your username as susie.parker@oracledemos.com and the password as welcome1. Click Save Password and click Login.

3.

Your contacts are listed. Click the New Contact icon (second icon on the left).

4.

Enter your contacts details as follows and scroll down:

First Name: John
Last Name: Bell
Work: 650-506-7687
Email1: john.bell@oracledemos.com

5.

Click Save to create the contact.

6.

The new contact now appears in the list.
