Started with Sybase at the University of Illinois in 1998, cutting my teeth on Oracle 7.3.4 in 2000. During my tenure, I have played a major role in supporting the implementation of an ERP from SCT (aka SunGard Higher Education), including:
Performance tuning: offering recommendations to the vendor to optimize code; enhancing access paths; waging war on resource intensive queries.
Upgrading from 9i to 10g: played a prominent role not only in the core upgrade, but also supported the migration from a RBO focus to CBO; worked with vendor to reduce impact of rbo-centric queries.
Ongoing Support as systems become live and more users work concurrently.
My focus has been primarily on query performance, but I have started to branch out to pl/sql development and working with java developers. I got my hands dirty with Streams in the context of our Data Warehouse, and have hopes to learn a bit more about RAC.
