Ingrian Networks Announces Network-Attached Encryption Solution
Ingrian Networks, based in Redwood City, California, has released its Network-Attached Encryption (NAE) solution, which allows enterprise applications supporting the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) framework to implement cryptographic functions on selected data. JCE is integrated into the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition SDK, v 1.4.1, which is supported by major enterprise-application servers including Oracle9i Application Server.
The NAE solution consists of one or more Ingrian-secure networking platforms, Ingrian's Content Encryption Service Engine software, and a custom JCE Provider installed on each application server. Load balancing of cryptographic requests, redundancy, and failover mechanisms are built in. The solution is intended to address stringent government regulations for consumer-data security and privacy without introducing new administrative complexities.
"This new . . . solution delivers on the promise of secure storage and protection not only by locking down application data but also by ensuring data integrity and providing data fingerprinting to complement existing password protection," explains Rod Murchison, vice
president of product and corporate development at Ingrian Networks.
Oracle's Healthcare Platform Linked to National Drug-Data File
First DataBank, a member of the Oracle Healthcare Partner Initiative and a leading supplier of electronic drug information, based in San Bruno, California, has partnered with Oracle to link its National Drug Data File (NDDF) Plus, a widely used source of up-to-date drug information that combines descriptions, pricing, and clinical information, to the Oracle Healthcare Transaction Base (OHTB). OHTB combines a standards-based information model with data-repository and business-process functionality, enabling healthcare enterprises to integrate disparate systems to provide a central repository for patient information and clinical services.
Oracle has also created a customer advisory board to guide development and implementation of OHTB. Members include Atlantic Health Sciences, Beaumont Hospitals, Capital Health Authority, Cardiff and Vale National Health Service Trust, the Methodist Hospital of the Methodist Health Care System, and the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center.
New Oracle-EMC Service Center
Oracle and EMC have established the Oracle and EMC Joint Service Center (JSC) in Hopkinton, Massachusetts to provide enhanced support, software, and consulting services for their more than 25,000 shared customers.
Staffed by service engineers from both companies, the JSC simulates the diverse networked storage environments that customers use today and allows EMC and Oracle support engineers to duplicate and model customer environments. It provides a dedicated environment for EMC and Oracle to help customers simplify design, implementation, and management of complex networked-storage and database infrastructures.
EMC's Global Services organization has also teamed with Oracle Consulting to deliver the Oracle on EMC Database Accelerator Service. The two organizations will work with customers to design, deploy, and optimize EMC storage systems, software, and networks running with Oracle databases.
