Ecora Releases Active Directory, Citrix Modules

Ecora has announced Active Directory (AD) and Citrix modules for the Ecora Enterprise Auditor 3.0 suite, an integral component of Ecora's Total Configuration Management solution.

"Group Policies, a key component of AD, provides a lot of power and flexibility to control user actions, which inevitably lead to complexity and risk for IT administrators and managers," says Alex Bakman, CEO of Ecora. "With our AD module, users can effectively manage AD changes to provide a more stable and secure environment while significantly saving time and reducing cost."

Topspin Enhances Grid Tools

Topspin Communications has enhanced its Switched Computing System by developing a hardware-abstraction layer and application programming interfaces (APIs) for its switches, which provide the first server-, storage-, and software-agnostic programmable interconnect for creating flexible grid-computing architectures.

The Switched Computing System translates policies—defined by third-party and homegrown provisioning applications—into actions that map server, storage, and networking resources together on the fly. By clustering servers and implementing system and data-mapping intelligence through a single switch, Topspin enables core enterprise applications, such as databases, to scale up and down based on business requirements.

QUMAS Unveils Latest Life Sciences Compliance Solution

QUMAS, a provider of enterprise compliance-management solutions for the life sciences industry, has introduced e-DocCompliance for the Oracle platform. The Web-based application manages the full lifecycle of regulatory controlled documentation in compliance with FDA (including 21 CFR Part 11), EMEA, ISO, and other international regulations.

The application facilitates electronic routing, review, approval, and archiving of regulatory documents and integrates with existing technology infrastructures and the entire suite of QUMAS Enterprise Compliance Management solutions.

Optimizing Oracle Performance
By Cary Millsap with Jeff Holt
O'Reilly
www.oreilly.com
ISBN 0-596-00527-X

Oracle performance analysts are always looking for ways to optimize response time. Now two of the industry's most dedicated performance-optimization experts provide the timesaving method Oracle DBAs and developers have been waiting for.

Cary Millsap, former vice president of Oracle's System Performance Group and cofounder of Hotsos, a company dedicated to Oracle system performance, with Jeff Holt, former technology leader in Oracle's System Performance Group and one of the world's most productive Oracle performance-optimization specialists, have joined forces to write Optimizing Oracle Performance.

The authors dispense with database-centric metrics and instead show how to use Oracle's response-time statistics to diagnose performance problems in an Oracle application system. Millsap and Holt also show how eliminating requests for unneeded work improves performance dramatically and how the mathematical discipline of queuing theory can be combined with response-time metrics to accurately predict the impact of system changes and upgrades. The 304-page book is due from O'Reilly this September.
