DataSparc Releases Web-based Remote Database Administration Tool
DataSparc has announced DBAConnect, a remote-management tool for Oracle databases that allows DBAs and developers to manage and develop Oracle databases over the internet via a Web browser.
DBAConnect was developed using Java and standard Web-based technology, so the product is platform-independent and requires no additional software installation. DBAConnect users can create tables, views, synonyms, sequences, users, roles, tablespaces, and data files and are able to execute any SQL statement using a SQL Window. The product's session-control feature also allows DBAs to get session information and kill a session.
A free trial version of the product is available for download.
Unibar Offers XML Support for BARCODE 2000 on Oracle Applications
BARCODE 2000, Unibar's professional bar code labeling software, now supports Extensible Markup Language (XML) files for Oracle E-Business Suite 11i applications.
BARCODE 2000 version 6.0 runs on native servers such as Linux, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Microsoft, and Solaris and prints labels on most popular bar code printers, including Datamax, Intermec, Monarch, Printronix, Sato, and Zebra.
"Oracle applications, in particular the Warehouse Management and Mobile Supply Chain modules, have preimplemented features for automatically generating XML label data files," explains Ted Kruse, Unibar's president. "Now Unibar offers an easily installed and implemented interface to process the XML, print the label, and return status."
PolyServe Adds Support for
Oracle Database 10g
PolyServe Matrix Server, a software product for shared data clustering, now supports Oracle Database 10g on Linux. PolyServe Matrix Server complements new Oracle Database 10g storage management features, such as Automatic Storage Management (ASM), by simplifying cluster installation and maintenance; enabling parallel extract, transform, and load (ETL) operations clusterwide; and adding high-availability features, such as multipath I/O.
Although it is optimized for Oracle Database 10g and other Oracle databases, Matrix Server can provide general-purpose support for applications such as file, e-mail, Web, and media serving. It can store Oracle data files on a raw partition managed by ASM, or store both Oracle data files and non-Oracle data in a single, shared Matrix Server file system.

By Jason Price
McGraw-Hill/Osborne's Oracle Press
ISBN: 0072229810
Respected Oracle expert and author Jason Price returns with a book designed for anyone who works with SQL in an Oracle environment, as well as PL/SQL developers. Price covers the basics of SQL, then presents Oracle 10g SQL extensions, and finally provides detailed information about programming with PL/SQL, making this one of the most comprehensive texts about SQL and PL/SQL ever printed.
Price starts with generic SQL fundamentals, providing helpful real-world examples to illustrate the use of SQLexamples that make use of the sample schemas available with Oracle Database 10g. He offers a slightly more in-depth discussion of data definition language statements and data manipulation language statements than are often found in books of this length. He moves into intermediate and advanced examples, using concise language. This book also covers SQL*Plus and its editing commands and includes a complete discussion of PL/SQL.
