EMC and Oracle Offer NAS Services

Implementing Network Attached Storage (NAS) just got a lot easier, thanks to Accelerator for NAS, a joint service of EMC and Oracle. Accelerator enables customers to quickly implement Oracle Database on EMC's Celerra NS600 NAS systems, with service professionals from EMC Global Services and Oracle Consulting teaming up to design, deploy, and optimize EMC's enterprise NAS systems and software with Oracle Database technology.

"We've worked closely with EMC to design a solution that helps our mutual customers quickly take advantage of the benefits of NAS to maximize their storage utilization, effectively back up their information, and manage their Oracle environment," says Oracle Consulting Vice President of Technology, Strategy, and Architecture Paul Cross.

Network Appliance Launches Oracle on Linux Competency Center

Need help configuring and deploying Oracle on Linux-based solutions? Check out the Oracle on Linux Competency Center, at the Silicon Valley headquarters of Network Appliance (NetApp). The facility includes storage assessment and data migration services, disaster recovery and high availability solutions, Oracle capacity and performance services, and more.

"This Linux Competency Center is a perfect complement to the services already offered by Oracle Consulting and NetApp through the Oracle on NetApp Center of Excellence," says Oracle Consulting Vice President of Technology, Strategy, and Architecture Paul Cross.

Oracle and HP Fast-Track Partnering in Southeast Asia

Oracle and Hewlett-Packard (HP) have joined forces to give local ISV partners a competitive edge in Southeast Asia. The companies have launched a regional network of competency and development centers called Partners Innovative Technology and Solution Centres (PITSTOP). Together, Oracle and HP have committed US$10 million in products and services over the next three years in the region in order to fast-track the development of strong regional ecosystems made up of local ISVs and SIs within the communications industry. HP and Oracle expect this network and its programs to generate as much as US$100 million in revenues for their partners over the next five years.

At the five PITSTOP locations in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand, local ISVs and SIs can strengthen their technology capabilities, develop applications, showcase solutions, and access overseas markets.

BearingPoint, Inc., to Offer Oracle 10g Database and Application Server

Oracle has been working with BearingPoint, one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, since 1994 to provide companies comprehensive supply chain management, procurement, and customer relationship management solutions across a number of targeted industries.

BearingPoint was a supporting partner in the launch of Oracle 10g in September 2003. BearingPoint was also an early member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork 10g initiative providing early access to Oracle 10g, and offers solutions, including Enterprise Information Portal and Single View of Enterprise, based on Oracle Application Server 10g capabilities. These solutions leverage Oracle database capabilities including scalability, high availability, performance, backup, recovery, security, and centralized management.

Latin America
The Venezuelan Health Care Institute, which wanted to improve service levels while decreasing inefficiencies, chose Oracle for its robust products and support and its partnership with Integris Consulting, a company that has wide experience with similar projects. The results include significant improvements in efficiencies and savings, plus the ability to provide additional channels through which citizens can access information and communicate and interact with the institute.

En-Tranz Entertainment, of Hong Kong, operates as a service provider for massively multiplayer online gaming—games that hundreds of thousands of players in different locations play online simultaneously. The company built a high-performance billing platform for charging customers who use its online game systems, based on Oracle Database with Real Application Clusters and a billing application developed by Shanghai-based Oracle partner TTC InfoAge International. The solution delivers a fast, robust, high-availability billing system for online gaming, and has boosted revenue through a wide variety of payment options.

Europe
Every student at the University of Manchester has e-mail and internet access. Following rapid growth in student and staff numbers, the university decided to replace its Pegasus and Novell Netware-based e-mail system. Fujitsu Siemens recommended Oracle Collaboration Suite, and the university chose Oracle in an evaluation of several products, including Microsoft Exchange 2000. After deployment, internal support costs fell 50 percent, the number of e-mail servers decreased from 60 to 6, and availability increased to 99.999 percent.

Americas
Wireless tablet PCs and a physician portal have replaced the stacks of patient charts and test results physicians at Akron General in Akron, Ohio, once carried as they made their rounds. Now the new physician portal built on Oracle with help from AdvizeX allows physicians to access Web-based patient information anywhere, anytime. When physicians make their rounds, they have instant access to critical information such as test results, medical records, insurance information, transcriptions, and e-mail.
