Oracle Joins Microsoft VSIP Program
Oracle has joined Microsoft's Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program as a premier-level partner.
The VSIP program helps ISVs ensure interoperability between their software and Visual Studio .NET, and by joining, Oracle will bring developers tighter
integration between the Oracle Database and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
"Oracle is committed to delivering the best products and technologies on the Microsoft Windows platform," says Christian Shay, principal product manager for Windows integration at Oracle. "Our tight integration with Visual Studio .NET will help make it easier for Windows developers to harness the full power of the Oracle database."
Oracle plans to offer a beta release for integration with Visual Studio .NET by the end of 2004. A production release is slated for the first quarter of 2005.
Opitz Consulting Delivers Product Data Management Solution
Opitz Consulting, in Gummersbach, Germany, now offers an Oracle-based product data management solution (Produktdatenmanagement-Lšsung, or PDM) designed to unite the silos of product data stored in marketing, sales, service, manufacturing, and other enterprise operations in a central, application-neutral way.
By centralizing product data, PDM reduces or eliminates redundant data entry and improves product data consistency and quality. It conforms to a variety of standards, including ISO 13584, DIN EN 61360, and IEC 65B/349/CD, and can tap into vendors' external systems
for supply-chain connectivity.
A variety of modules, including PDM Catalog, PDM XML Connect, PDM Translation, and PDM Interconnect, allow data in the Opitz PDM solution to be used for catalog production, supply chain applications, price lists, and other purposes. PDM data can also be accessed directly with HTML, Java thin clients, Java fat clients, or Oracle Forms.
