New Release Gives ISVs an Edge

Oracle Files attracts partners.

Partners are lining up behind Oracle Files, Oracle's content management offering. Built on Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Application Server 10g, Oracle Files is available as a standalone application or as part of Oracle Collaboration Suite. It provides advanced file, document, and records management capabilities for information management and regulatory compliance.

Systems integrator BearingPoint is building content management solutions for its clients and preparing content management reference architectures based on Oracle Files. "We're increasingly seeing the need for reference architectures for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance," says Donald J. Lovett, managing director at BearingPoint. "Enterprise content management, in addition to financial reporting, is an important step toward complying with regulations."

Another Oracle Partner, EMC Centera, offers a storage solution that will be integrated with Oracle Files. Centera, a division of EMC, provides a simple, scalable, secure storage solution for cost-effective retention, protection, and disposition of a wide range of fixed content. Centera provides fast, easy online access with assured content authenticity and petabyte scalability. "EMC Centera, with its unique capabilities and leading functionality, is a perfect complement to the benefits Oracle Files delivers," says Roy Sanford, vice president of content addressed storage at EMC. "The integration between EMC Centera and Oracle Files provides our mutual customers with the ability to manage and archive their enterprise information, cost-effectively facilitating regulatory compliance."

Kofax, creator of Ascent Capture, an information capture application, is partnering with Oracle to deliver regulatory compliance and business process automation solutions based on Oracle Files. Ascent Capture is used to capture, index, and validate information—in digital form or on paper. "We round out Oracle's content management application to the 100-percent level," says Anthony Macciola, Kofax's senior vice president of development and marketing.

Partners Leverage Oracle BPEL Process Manager

Oracle BPEL Process Manager provides a reliable solution for designing, deploying, and managing Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)-based business applications and processes. Oracle BPEL Process Manager is the first commercially available BPEL engine for Windows and is the cornerstone of Oracle's service-oriented architecture (SOA) and integration platform. Partners with BPEL expertise are making important contributions to the success of Oracle's BPEL offerings.

Popkin Software, for example, offers System Architect, now integrated with Oracle BPEL Process Manager. "We're a market leader in business process capture, analysis, and communication," says Jan Popkin, CEO of Popkin Software. "When using BPEL to link our technology to Oracle for implementing those processes, organizations gain a whole new value proposition. For the first time, this partnership adds architecture and modeling into the business process management (BPM) lifecycle." Popkin System Architect links business process models to a broader enterprise architecture, enabling users to visualize and analyze the relationships among their technology infrastructure, data flows, and business processes.

BPEL is also finding a use in the public sector. Local governments in the Netherlands, such as Ridderkerk, Tiel, and Arnhem, look to a company called Inter Access for assistance with e-government initiatives. "Within our state-of-the-art data center, we run the latest technology for optimal performance and scalability of our On Demand solutions," says Edwin van den Thillart, manager of solution development at Inter Access. "With Oracle BPEL Process Manager, we can make complex processes within municipalities easy. We are glad we are now live with more than 6,000 users within On Demand with Oracle solutions."
