Partners line up to support Oracle Fusion Middleware
The success of Oracle Fusion MiddlewareOracle's family of integrated, standards-based, customer-proven middleware productsdepends largely on Oracle partners. The launch of Oracle Fusion Middleware provides an opportunity for partners to expand their offerings: ISVs, VARs, and distributors can extend their portfolios, while SIs will find more business independent of their applications practices. Partners and end users alike will benefit from tighter integration of Oracle's middleware products and more alignment with Oracle applications and technology. Oracle partners already providing products and services under the Oracle Fusion Middleware banner include

Oracle and Sun Deliver Database Infrastructures to SMBs
Oracle and Sun Microsystems have joined forces to provide preconfigured computing solutions for small and medium businesses, offering rapid deployment and exceptional scalability at low cost. Called Database Packs from Sun and Oracle, these tested solutions combine a version of Oracle Database 10g, SunFire V20z or V40z servers based on the AMD Opteron processor, the Sun StorEdge 3310 SCSI storage array, and the Linux or Solaris 10 operating system.
Three recommended Database Packs configurations are available, based on the customer's number of concurrent users. Customers running Solaris 10 can receive full support for Sun hardware and software through a SunSpectrum Service Plan, and subscription-based support for Solaris 10 (independent of hardware) is also available. Regional Sun/Oracle resellers will sell the new Database Packs.
Pillar Releases Axiom Storage System
Oracle Partner Pillar Data Systems has introduced its Pillar Axiom enterprise storage system, offering storage area network (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) capabilities in a single platform and providing multitiered, application-specific levels of service on a single storage pool.

Oracle and HP Deliver Grid Computing Quickly
Oracle and HP have joined forces to deliver the Oracle Database 10g on HP Accelerator program, a turnkey solution consisting of hardware, software, and migration services designed to bring customers' IT infrastructure up to date, in a set amount of time, at a fixed cost.
The hardware platforms for this joint offering are HP's ProLiant Server or BladeSystem. Together, HP and Oracle are providing the benefits of grid computingincluding flexibility, high reliability, and low total cost of ownershipto enterprise IT infrastructures.
Five key phases make up the Oracle Database 10g on HP Accelerator offering. First, the Oracle-HP team works with the customer to define a grid platform strategy that aligns with the customer's service level agreements. Second, the team plans the transition from the existing Oracle8i or Oracle9i Database to Oracle Database 10g for grid computing or Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters. Third, the team executes the transition to the new platform. Fourth, the customer's IT staff is trained in new grid features, giving them self-sufficiency on the new platform. Last, the transition is thoroughly tested and validated, and the customer accepts the finished product.
The Accelerator program taps into the knowledge of grid computing experts from both HP and Oracle. The team of experts works as one virtual company, under one contract, to deliver a full production-ready environment in a fixed-scope, fixed-price arrangement in 10 days. Surcharges may apply for databases larger than one terabyte and applications that contain third-party interfaces.
"Oracle and HP share a rich history of innovating world-class enterprise technology solutions," says Dave O'Neill, vice president of Oracle's Technology Business unit. "HP's ProLiant solutions have provided us with an industry-proven hardware suite that helps our customers accelerate their transition to the Oracle Grid Platform. Together, we provide our customers with an adaptable platform where their Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Application Server 10g easily scale to meet the needs of a modern agile business."

Customers can deploy multiple applications on a single Pillar Axiom storage platform simultaneously, delivering appropriate performance to each application through a combination of data placement, automatic prioritized queuing, and cache management. Transaction-oriented database files are striped across multiple spindles and stored in a narrow band near the outer diameter of each disk drive platter, where the data rate is the highest and there is more data per track. Lower-priority data is automatically stored on inner tracks, where data rates are lower.
Pillar Axiom systems use high-volume modular components and automatically allocate hardware assets where they are needed. Pillar customers have reported that it costs less to purchase and deploy a Pillar Axiom system than it does to maintain some of their current systems. Customers can scale capacity and performance on an Axiom system without incurring additional software license fees.
CipherSoft Exodus-ADF Migrates Oracle Forms to ADF
Oracle Partner CipherSoft has announced Exodus-ADF, a proprietary tool for migrating Oracle Forms to Oracle's Application Development Framework (ADF). Exodus-ADF automates the migration of Oracle Forms menus, libraries, triggers, and all semantic content. The migrated application keeps its original look and feel, is maintainable and portable, and contains no wrappers, so application deployment is fast and business impact caused by migration is minimized. Automated migration cuts costs associated with manual conversion, reduces the possibility of human error, and allows legacy Oracle Forms applications to take full advantage of Oracle 10g capabilities.
Christophe Job, Oracle's vice president of application development tools, says, "Exodus-ADF will help you migrate Oracle Forms applications to the same technology stack being used in Oracle E-Business Suite, allowing developers to productively build enterprise-class applications that can then be deployed and managed on Oracle Application Server 10g."
Bhrigus, a software and service provider and Oracle partner in the Asia Pacific market, will market, sell, and provide migration services based on the Exodus family in India, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and Malaysia, and will also serve select clients in North America.
Oracle PartnerNetwork Initiative Simplifies Partner Integrations
Oracle PartnerNetwork now offers the Application Integration Architecture for Partners to all ISV Certified and Certified Advantage Partners. It provides integration, validation, and installation services to partners who support partner integration with the Oracle, PeopleSoft, and JD Edwards application products.
The initiative combines the PeopleSoft Certification program and Oracle's integration programs, offering partners a platform to integrate with Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, or JD Edwards World. This integration approach results in completely integrated enterprise solutions for customers, and reduced risk, smooth upgrade capability, and lower costs. Integration validation gives customers confidence that products are integrated in a reliable, standards-based way. It also assures customers that Oracle has reviewed and approved the method of integration.
