Enterprises have invested heavily in their legacy systems such
as CICS and AS400. These applications perform important and irreplaceable
business tasks. However, these applications need to communicate with the
new e-business enabling applications, coordinating business processes and
tasks in a consistent, reliable, secure, and autonomous manner. These applications
also need to efficiently exchange information with customers, partners,
and suppliers over low-cost channels such as the internet, while preserving
a traceable history of events--a requirement previously satisfied through
now obsolete paper forms.
Messaging Gateway, an Oracle database feature, e-business enables communication
with your CICS, AS400, and other MQ Series accessible applications. It
provides guaranteed automatic message propagation between MQ Series and
Advanced Queuing queues in an Oracle database. Advanced Queuing (AQ) is
the high performance message queuing functionality of the Oracle database.
With advanced queues, the message communications are automatically audited,
an important requirement especially for financial applications. Advanced
queues can be accessed securely from the internet, thus internet-enabling
your CICS and AS400 applications.
Below are some highlights of Oracle Messaging Gateway:
Guaranteed and
Automatic Message Propagation
Message Gateway provides guaranteed, once and only once, and automatic
propagation between AQ queues and MQ Series queues. Once scheduled, the
gateway agent automatically picks up the messages intended for MQ Series
queues from AQ queues and transactionally propagates them to MQ Series
queues. Similarly, it propagates messages from MQ Series queues intended
for AQ queues.
Automatic
Message Transformation
Messaging Gateway has automatic type conversion for the types that
can be directly mapped from MQ Series datatypes to AQ datatypes. However,
AQ supports the entire extensible type system of the Oracle databases.
For these types, messaging gateway supports user-defined transformations
that can be used to define mappings from Oracle's object type to an MQ
Series message type. These user-defined transformations are automatically
applied during propagation.
Internet-enables
MQ Series queue
Advanced queues are internet-enabled, i.e. they can be securely accessed
from the Internet. Messaging gateway automatically internet-enables the
MQ Series queues. The messages destined for MQ Series queues are enqueued
securely over the Internet into AQ queues and automatically propagated
to MQ Series. Similarly, messages from MQ Series can be automatically propagated
from MQ Series queues to AQ queues, and then sent to applications over
the Internet.
Unique Message
Management Benefits
In many situations, for example, when sending financial information,
the messaging operations require not only guaranteed delivery but also
reliable auditing. With messaging gateway, messaging operations are automatically
audited. An entire message history can be queried using a SQL view. This
history can also be used for extracting tracking information and business
intelligence.
