Developing a Java-Client Application

Overview

Using the objects that you defined in the Developing OLAP Objects tutorial, you will learn how to incorporate OLAP objects into a Java-Client application and to deploy these solutions in an effective and productive manner.

After completing the tutorial exercises, you will have a fully functional business intelligence application that incorporates the following functionality :

  • View business data in both graphical and crosstab format, as a single view or as multiple linked views.
  • Incorporate data-driven stoplight reporting.
  • Access saved crosstab, graph, and calculation objects that are stored in the BI Beans Catalog.
  • Navigate data using familiar OLAP concepts, such as drill down, pivot, and page.
  • Analyze data using the QueryBuilder, which enables users to answer business questions like "What are my Top 5 selling products?"
  • Export data to a spreadsheet.

Prerequisites

Completion of the Developing OLAP Objects tutorial, because the current tutorial references and uses objects that were created in the exercises of the Developing OLAP Objects tutorial.
