Creating a Server Connection
You can create a new connection profile, or modify existing connection profiles, from the Connection Manager dialog box.
- From the Tools menu, select Manage Connections. You can also open the Connection Manager dialog box when you sign in to the Oracle Calendar desktop client by clicking Other from the Sign-In dialog box.
- Click New.
- Enter a name for the connection profile in the Connection Name field.
- Enter information you want associated with this profile in the Comment field.
- In the Server field, enter the Oracle Calendar server name.
- Click Lookup to perform a search on the server to determine the nodes, and the authentication, compression, and encryption (ACE) schemes available. If the Connection Configuration dialog box opens, select one of the following options and click Configure to automatically configure your server connection:
- Configure at login from user name: Oracle recommends using this option, which configures your server connection every time you log into the Oracle Calendar server. If you choose this option, you cannot set ACE options. The server default ACE settings will be used. Configuring your connection at login eliminates the need for you to reconfigure that connection if you are moved from one Oracle Calendar server node to another.
- Configure for specific user: Configures your server connection immediately, but will not configure the connection every time you log into the Oracle Calendar server. You must enter your user name or user ID, or you can perform a search for your name. If you choose this option, you can specify which ACE settings you want to use from the available lists. If you are moved from one Oracle Calendar server node to another and you selected this option, you must reconfigure your server connection.
If you want to manually configure your server connection, click No from the Connection Configuration dialog box. Select the appropriate node from the Node list and select the ACE settings you want to use from the available lists in the Connection Editor dialog box.
- In certain scenarios, you can select a node, and the method of authentication, compression, and encryption for your connection from the available lists. Contact your administrator for more information on these options. If the server-defined option appears, you do not have the necessary privileges to configure this setting. If the Not available on this server option appears, contact your administrator.
