Before you begin scheduling with the Oracle Calendar desktop client, Oracle recommends that you set the appropriate time zone. The Oracle Calendar desktop client supports scheduling across multiple time zones.
You should change your time zone setting before traveling to another location in a different time zone. This will significantly reduce scheduling conflicts if you intend to schedule with other users at your destination. For example, if you work on the West Coast and are traveling to meet colleagues on the East Coast, your colleagues could invite you to an 11 a.m. meeting before your arrival. If you are still set to Pacific time, your calendar will display 8 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. as the meeting time.
You have the option to change your time zone setting just for the session you are in or for future sessions too. Refer to the "Setting your time zone" topic in the Oracle Calendar desktop client online help for steps on how to set your time zone.
If you travel to areas in different time zones but do not want to change your time zone setting, you can also display a meeting entry as if you were in that time zone. For example, you are working on the West Coast and you want to create a meeting entry with your East Coast coworkers. When you enter the meeting information, you can select a different time zone to view the meeting in. When you save and close the meeting, the associated time zone will be the one you have already set in your preferences. You can display any meeting in a different time zone — whether it is a meeting you own or an entry you are viewing. Refer to the "Changing the time zone of a meeting entry" topic in the online help for steps on how to display a meeting in a different time zone.
