If you decide to use folders to organize your messages, Oracle Mail provides a useful tool, called filters, that can reduce or eliminate the work of sorting your messages into the right folders after they arrive. A filter is a rule, that tells Oracle Mail where to put each new message when it arrives. You can create filters using Oracle WebMail, or another mail client, sorting incoming messages based on who they are from, whether they were addressed directly to you or you were in the cc: or bcc: list, keywords in the subject line, message size, priority, date sent, or any combination of these. You can also use a filter to send a copy of the message or a notification to someone else, notify you, or automatically delete the message.
You can indicate the order in which the filter rules are applied. For example, you might filter all messages from your boss into a Boss folder, and messages with the name of a client ’Visioncorp’ in the subject of the message, into the Visioncorp folder. You might decide the Boss rule should apply first. If a message from your boss with the word Acme in the subject line arrives in your Inbox, it would be placed in the Boss folder.
